Consciousness Removal Project is a Tampere, Finland project led by Antti Loponen, who handles composition, lyrics, arrangements, most instruments, and production. Formed in 2004, it works in sludge metal, post-metal, post-rock, and instrumental rock, with a sound that developed from guitar-based ambient ideas toward heavier post-metal territory. The live setup has used a rotating collective since 2008, giving the project a fuller stage format than its studio core. Later releases also include instrumental material, with Tacit from 2013 noted in that direction.
