Came across Negative's fourth album Karma Killer from 2008 on Hype Records - this one brings harder riffs and more aggressive energy while keeping their melodic core intact. Ten tracks that sequence from punchy openers to the nine-minute closer 'Gravity of Love.'
Opens with 'A Devil on My Shoulder,' establishing a heavier, more modern hard rock approach. Singles 'Sealed' and 'Won't Let Go' balance aggression with hooks, and 'Motherfucker (Just Like You)' shows a rawer, more confrontational side. The sequencing moves deliberately from riff-led tracks into longer, more dramatic pieces.
The closer 'Gravity of Love' is notable - nine minutes, shifting through multiple movements and moods. It's the band's most ambitious piece at that point, functioning as an epilogue that contrasts with the harder-edged opening tracks. Production emphasizes riff clarity and power, with space for both heavy passages and soaring choruses.
This album marks a stylistic evolution for Negative - heavier production, sharper attitude, but still rooted in melodramatic glam rock. If you're into their earlier work but want something with more bite, check this one. Available via AllMusic references.
