Black Royal are a Finnish heavy band from Tampere, built around sludge metal, doom metal, and rock with death-metal and blackened touches. The group formed in 2013 and features Jukka Hiltunen on drums, Pete (202) on bass and backing vocals, Riku Niemelä on vocals, and Toni Morjes on guitars and backing vocals, with Petri Kantola also listed in the lineup. Their early run included the 2017 single Dying Star and the 2018 album Lightbringer, released after the band signed with Suicide Records in late 2016. Later albums Firebride and Earthbound continued that path, with the band keeping a heavy, slow, and sharply arranged sound.
